The Falcon" - from this groups is accepted count out the history of the russian fate, since exactly "SOKOL" corepaired the first rocksong in russian language. This was a song "Where that edge?" First performance on public is dated 1965.
****
**Formed in 1964, Sokol (The Falcons) belonged to the earliest generation of rock music in the Soviet Union. Only one other band came before them, Estonia's Revengers, formed in Riga in 1961. With the possible exception of the Polish student band Tarakani (The Roaches), also from 1964, or their own earlier incarnation as The Brothers, Sokol was the very first rock group in Moscow. They most definitely were the first to play original compositions and the first to write a popular rock hit in Russian, "Solnce Nad Nami" ("The Sun Above Us"). The band took their name from the Sokol station of the Moscow Metro, which was their home turf. They were a true underground legend, an uncompromising rock group at a time of total censorship and oppression. Renowned for the virtuosity of their lead guitarist, Yuri Ermakov, Sokol pioneered the big beat sound and were tremendously popular in their day. Their original songs inspired many Russian musicians to start writing rock music in their native tongue, while their spirited covers of Western hits by The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Rolling Stones and The Shadows were a breath of fresh air at a time when these recordings were banned and could not be bought in the USSR.

There is such notion: will appear "at necessary time in necessary place". I consider that Сергей Попов did not pack in this formula, since he has overtaken its time. If was a possibility to write Сережины canto on good equipment just when they appeared on with winnows, that, possible, our fate-н-ролл, but in that time big-bit, will go on the other way. After all canto in this stiletto, unlike бардовских, required equipment necessary quality, but it then was only in hand Государства, which such music was does not need. Regrettably, История does not tolerate the subjunctive mood
Enormous thank you Sergey that presently we, finally, can cull the fate-н-ролл from his(its) headwaters.

Kontsertsaal oli puupusti tais, kaks korda samapalju rahvast oli kino ees platsil, kus see hakkas juba trammiliiklust segama. Tooni andsid Leningradi ja Lati hipid kirevavarvilistes roivastes.
Laval olid tolleaegsed koige meeletumad bandid, naiteks Mikronid, Kristallid, Poissmehed, jt. Konferentsjee oli tollane iludus Ada Lundver. Viimasena esinesid kultusgrupp Virmalised, kellelt nouti husteeriliselt lisalugusid. Nendeks olid Toivo kurmeti „In My Dream" ja kordusesitusena „You Were On My Mind Girl".

Lugude valimisel on kaasa loonud projektis „Biitmuusika noortele” osalenud Tallinna noored. Markimisvaarselt suure nou ja jouga on plaati toetanud Uku Toomet Orbital Vox Stuudiotest. Masteri on valmistanud ja plaadi restaureerinud Siim Maesalu Sonicmedia stuudiost.Projektijuht Janno Zobin.Kujundanud Imre Malva.
Kuuekumnendate aastate esimesel poolel voimsa lainena kogu maailma haaranud biitmuusika levikust sai Eestis marginaalne nahtus. Uhelt poolt jaljendasid siinsed teismelised muusikud Inglismaa ja USA kitarriansambleid, (The Beatles, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Animals, jt) teiselt poolt mojutas noorte loomingut oluliselt ka eesti keel ja kohalik olustik. Tanu Skandinaavia ja Laane-Euroopa lahedusele, Eesti kultuurilistele isearasustele ja valitsevale riigikorrale, (see kull taunis biitansamblite muusikat, kuid vaatas bandide tegevusele siiski kumnendi esimesel poolel veel labi sormede) kujunes Eesti biitmuusika scene omanaolisemaiks, elujoulisemaiks ja noori kaasahaaravamaiks terves Noukogude Liidus. Siinsete bandide kultuslikkuse illustreerivaks naiteks sobiks eraldi valja tuua ansambli Optimistid kontsertreisi edu Gruusias, aga ka hilisemat Jaak Joala ja Tonis Mae populaarsust koikjal Venemaal. Eesti solistidele oli just biitansamblites osalemine sageli huppelauaks suurtele estraadilavadele; nii monedki tanapaeval tunnustatud heliloojad on samuti oma muusikukarjaari alustanud just biitansamblites musitseerides.Plaadil mangivad verinoortena oma esimesi lugusi Jaak Joala, Ivo Linna, Gunnar Graps, Toomas Korvits, Olav Ehala jne.

VA \The Best of the 60 Garage Band Scene \ - Green Crystal Ties -vol 2

Mp3\58Mb
*******
Despite including some fairly well-known bands from the genre, this volume is just an average release for this series. The influence of the heavyweights is perhaps too apparent at times, with the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, and the Zombies all being mimicked, with varying degrees of success. Obviously, one should start with the original works by any of these popular '60s artists before contemplating this compilation. But even then, the Blue Things, the Barracudas, the Basement Wall, and the New Breed — the best groups on this volume — are best heard on their own albums rather than on this release.

VA\ Garage Band Rebels\ - Green Crystal Ties - vol 1

Mp3\75Mb
******
If Rhino's Nuggets box only whetted one's appetite for mid-1960's garageand psychedelic-punk music, the this 10 CD series is your next stop. It augments and improves on Collectables' existing "Cicadelic" and garage-punk CD series, with better masters, improved notes and artwork, and cleverer packaging, which is almost deliberately similar to Rhino's Nuggets box. The idea is basically the same as the old Collectables series, presenting pairs of tracks by otherwise under-appreciated psychedelic acts from the mid-1960's to the dawn of the 1970's. Given that time span, the range of sounds is fairly diverse, from garage punk in a Standells mode to serious heavy metal in the manner of Black Sabbath. Volume One emphasizes several bands that will be familiar to Collectables' earlier round of releases, including The Zakary Thaks, The Bad Seeds, and The Liberty Bell, along with some less familiar performers such as The Illusions, the Outlaws, Kubla Khan, and Michael. The Illusions deserve to be more than an unknown quantity for the version of "Gloria" featured here, a sneering rendition with a pair of angry sounding guitars and a pumping bass behind an edgy vocal—the paired up number, "Try, " is just different enough, featuring some harmonies, that one wishes there were a full album of material from this outfit. The Outlaws weren't as fierce sounding an outfit, but they knew how to get a fresh take on the Byrds' sound on numbers like "Worlds Apart." The Liberty Bells two numbers here couldn't be more different, the slow, folk-rock-ish "Something For Me" paling next to the fuzz-box blow-out "Reality Is The Only Answer" which, it's title aside, is a great piece of high-energy psychedelia. The Nomads, cutting music for Orbit Records in Houston, are represented by a savage version of "My Little Red Book" and one superb original, "Situations," that's like a three-minute teen-punk sneer set to music. Michael was actually Michael Taylor, member of The Bad Seeds, who were one of the better Corpus Christi bands; his singles had a defiant personal edge despite the obvious commercial side to the songs. Kubla Khans 1970 vintage "Revolution II" and "Help Yourself" retained a '60s punk feel despite running times and (in "Revolution") political sensibilities that would've been a too sophisticated for 1966-67, when it was just enough to complain about life. As a bonus, the disc includes unreleased versions of the Zakary Thaks classics "My Door" and the series-naming "Green Crystal Ties"—loud, crunchy, hook-laden garage punk with a vengeance.

Rory Storm & The Hurricans - The Complete Works

Liverpool band Rory Storm & the Hurricanes are most famous as Ringo Starr's group before he joined the Beatles. In fact, to most rock fans, that's about all they're known for. They were, however, an extremely popular Merseyside group in the early '60s that did their part to get the Liverpool scene going, and were, in fact, more popular than the Beatles themselves in 1960. Like the Beatles and some other Liverpool groups, they went to Hamburg and played challenging residencies in that city's tough clubs. But, shortly after the Beatles and Storm had cut their teeth in Hamburg, the Beatles shot past Storm and his group in popularity. And with good reason — the Beatles... Read More...

The Pete Best Combo-Beyond The Beatles (1964-1966)

Mp3\160Mb
******
A true labor of archival fetishism, this assembles 24 songs cut by the Pete Best Combo in the mid-'60s — and even this doesn't include every last item from his "solo" career. The results are surprisingly American in feel for a Mersey group, with some saxophones and an echo-laden production. Much of the ambience could be attributed to the New York studios that they used, apparently under pressure to produce quickly, as the performances sometimes betray the hallmarks of hasty execution. In other words, the guitar on "I'll Have Everything Too" is so out of tune that it has to be heard to be believed. But the disc is not that bad of a listen, although it's basically superfluous: the energy level is reasonably high, some of the tunes (most of which were written and sung by group members Tony Waddington and Wayne Bickerton) are kind of catchy, and the Chocolate Watch Band-ish "The Way I Feel About You" was solid enough to gain a place on a reissue in the English Freakbet series. Best himself, if you're curious, doesn't seem to have sung at all (though the quaverous intro to "I Can't Do Without You Now" could possibly be him), and the drumming is nothing out of the ordinary.

The Remains - Session With Remains

***
Mp3 256\79 Mb
******
This disc really gives a vivid, unfaded snapshot of a '60s band at the top of its game, playing as if their lives depended on it even though they were wiped out from the night before. With all the covers mixed in with the originals, it also gives a solid sense of what their nightclub playlists were like. If you love historical context as much you love as great rock'n'roll, you really do get the best of both worlds here
Most of the tracks are covers, including The McCoys' "Hang On Sloopy" (one can only wonder what The McCoys did with this live), The Kinks' "All Day And All of The Night" (with Tashian adding a leering "baaaby" on to the end of several lines, not to mention his own version of Dave Davies' frantic guitar solo), Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone", Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode", Bo Diddley's "I'm a Man", Rufus Thomas' "Walkin the Dog", plus several of Barry Tashian's originals, including two versions of "Why Do I Cry", "Ain't That Her" (with amazing live harmonies) and "Why Do I Cry".The chatter in between tracks displays an incredible looseness in the band. Considering this was an audition, and they were really hoping to get off Epic, you'd think they'd be a bit more nervous. Also, considering they were in the middle of a club run, playing gigs that lasted until 3 or 4am, and were in the studio at 10 or 11am to record this set, they sound really fresh.

Biography by Richie Unterberger:A strong contender for the finest overlooked American band of the mid-'60s, the Remains (led by Barry Tashian) were the most notable Boston group of the era. But they never broke out nationally, despite signing to Epic and copping an opening slot on the Beatle' final American tour in 1966. Sometimes described as a garage band, that designation isn't at all accurate; the Remains shared the same British Invasion influences as many American teen acts, but had a lot of professional finesse to their straight-ahead attack and sharp songwriting, sometimes sounding like a fusion of the Beatles and the Zombies with their energetic harmonies and guitar-electric keyboard blend.Four fine singles for Epic found little action outside of the ... THE MUSTANGS - Riverside Garage Legends ... and that`s for sure! (1965)

Mp3\100Mb
*****
The Mustangs' 1965 single "That's For Sure" is considered one of the Holy Grails of '60s garage rock. That one, hopelessly rare 45 would be their only release. However, in January 1966 the Mustangs went into Locy Sound in Riverside, California, where they recorded 14 more songs, demonstrating not only their dynamism and versatility as a live cover band, but also their remarkable talent for original material, from wailing rockers to haunting Beatlesque ballads. Those tracks are presented here for the first time, along with "That's For Sure" and its grooving instrumental flipside "Nova Blues." ...

The Dimensions - From All Dimensions (1966)

Biography by Richie Unterberger
There were many obscure garage bands in the mid-'60s who released limited editions of all-cover albums to be given away at gigs and school. Most of these albums were virtually worthless except as time capsules, but there were a few scattered exceptions that proved the rule — LPs of this kind by T.C. Atlantic and the Litter became valued collector's items. The Dimensions were another example. Nothing is known about this Chicago college group, whose derivative, but exciting, album achieved a much greater audience when it was reissued for the '60s collector audience in the '80s.

Not an original bone in their body on this 1966 album of 12 covers, but The Dimensions did a good job as aspiring Rolling Stones. Killer versions of "Carol" and "Do You Love Me" highlight this timepiece, with the kind of crudely amplified raw guitars and frenetic drums that could not be reproduced by the most exacting current scientific methods

One of Minneapolis' most popular '60s bands, the Litter are most known for their classic 1967 garage rock single "Action Woman." With its demonic fuzz/feedback guitar riffs and cocky, snarling lead vocal, it was an archetype of the tough '60s garage rock favored by fans of the Pebbles reissue series. In fact, the single, which got some airplay in Minnesota in early 1967 and then was largely forgotten, didn't reach an international audience until it became cut one, Side One on Volume One of Pebbles in the late '70s. It now has a place of honor on the Nuggets box set. The Litter were a little more successful and long-lived than the average regional garage band, recording a few albums, the last one for a major label, and evolving into a more ... Read More...

The Litter - Distortions (1967)
Their anthem "Action Woman" kicks off this non-stop raving package, which includes ten bonus tracks.
THE LITTER Distortions (1999 US 10-track LP pressed on 150gram VIRGIN VINYL; originally released on Warick in 1967, this was the debut album from this Minneapolis garage band, and although largely ignored in their time, the band have since attained legendary status among collectors of rare 60s garage punk, and are best known for their stand-out anthem 'Action Woman' - thanks to the 'live' and overloaded production, every cut burns with an unusual intensity[original copies change hands for up to $1000!].
...That's the great thing about rock and roll. On the one hand, this record is completely derivitive. Talented as this disc shows them to be, no-one will ever mistake the guys in the Litter for Great Artistes as Clapton and Townsend have oft been annointed. There's no pretense to blues tradition or pop-art intelligence in the Litter's emulation of their Brit-idols. They just go for the Noise, but somehow they get it, and it's beyond perfect. What we hear in the Litter's I'm a Man is not the genius of individuals, but the genius of an art form as a whole, that somehow found an expression of its essence in four-minutes of spirited emulation by some guys you've never heard of from the middle-of-nowhere...

Vocalist/keyboardist Willie MacCalder formed the Walkers in 1963 with guitarists Bill Hardie and Dennis Petruk, and drummer Roland Hardie. The group signed with Capitol four years later and released two singles, "Diamonds and Gold" and "Alone in My Room." The Walkers disbanded in the early '70s (MacCalder began playing with the Powder Blues Band), but re-formed in 1988 for a reunion concert. Several changes later took place, including Roland Hardie being replaced by Nick Petruk and new additions vocalist Rick Francis, keyboard player R.J. Smarton and guitarist Sam Paladino joining the Walkers.

Syndicate Of Sound - Little Girl (1966)

Formed in San Jose, CA, in 1964, the Syndicate of Sound were one of the premier garage bands and forerunners of psychedelic rock, establishing a national following based on one massive 1966 hit, "Little Girl." Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Don Baskin, guitarist/keyboardist John Sharkey, lead guitarist Jim Sawyers, bassist Bob Gonzalez, and drummer John Duckworth, the predecessors to the Syndicate of Sound were groups called the Pharoahs and Lenny Lee and the Knightmen. After recording an unsuccessful single for the Scarlet label, on January 9, 1966, Syndicate of Sound recorded "Little Girl" at a studio in San Francisco for Hush Records; it became a regional hit in California after San Jose ... The teen-band pride of San Jose, CA, the Syndicate of Sound scaled the heights of the rock & roll world for a very brief moment in the summer of 1966 with their Top Ten hit "Little Girl." With a catchy, jangly electric 12-string riff, a solid beat, a macho teen vocal, and a chord progression heavily influenced by "Hey Joe," the tune perfectly mirrored the sound of the times and was a can't-miss hit, a British sound played with American garage enthusiasm. But their success ride was short; within a year or two, their ranks were decimated from the draft, touring exhaustion, and the musically changing times. This reissue serves as their lasting legacy, combining the original 12-song album with four bonus tracks. Kicking off with a pair of souped-up R&B covers, the album casts a pretty wide net, with half of the tunes penned by various bandmembers. Of these, ballads sit alongside rockers like "Lookin' for the Good Times (The Robot)" and "Rumors" (complete with Yardbirds-style fuzz guitar rave-up in the middle), while the Kinks-style "That Kind of Man" is an imaginative British-sound knockoff. The outside material, however, is where the band shows their true chameleon-like strength. Covers of the Hollies' "I'm Alive," Louis Jordan's "Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby" (via Buster Brown's version), the Sonics' "The Witch," and Roy Orbison's "Dream Baby" show a band that could either play a song "just like the record" or bring their own twist to the proceedings. The four CD bonus tracks likewise demonstrate that the group had no shortage of original material, but unfortunately nothing compiled here has the hit sound of "Little Girl," an easy explanation as to why the group ended up with one-hit wonder status
