VA - Where The Action Is (Gary Crowley Presents)

Full title - Gary Crowley Presents Where The Action Is. 2004 compilation is a themed package featuring all types of 60s mod music, from R&B & freakbeat to northern soul. Features 40 tracks by such artists as The Brits, The Creation, The Sorrows, Fleur De Lys, The Primitives, David Bowie, The Kinks, Small Faces, Georgie Fame, The Riot Squad, & many more. t`s hard to fault this trawl through the soul, ska, R&B and mod vaults, providing as it does a chance to finally lay your hands on cuts by bands you`ve maybe heard of if you`re an avid reader of Record Collector or Mojo. Even if you haven`t heard of half the artists here (and the presence of The Kinks, PP Arnold, The Small Faces and Desmond Dekker makes up for that) you really should introduce yourself to Tommy Tucker`s original `High Heel Sneakers`, Betty Everett`s smokin` `Getting Mighty Crowded` and The Alan Bown Set`s `Baby Don`t Push Me`. With a full eighteen (out of forty) `The` bands included, this is the music that made Mod the coolest youth cult of the twentieth century.
