On 2010 year markes 50 years since Radio Veronica began broadcasting from a ship outside the

territorial waters.

On the occasion of this, record company Universal has released a box with 7 CDs with

there on the biggest radio hits from the period 1964 - 1974.

Rob Olthof wrote a review on the box set "A Tribute to the Pirate Stations"

"You have collector CDs and collector CDs. Every now and then a gem comes out and that process ends

being able to release a gem is of course becoming increasingly difficult because in the course of the

so many collectors with music from the 60s and 70s of the last century have been published for years.

In April 2010, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Radio Veronica (well, 50….)

When you open the box you first come across an excellent foreword by Ad Bouman.

Ad is very careful about criticizing the record companies and rightly so. Because just try

put together a box of tracks from different companies.

That is just as difficult as getting a Fleming and a Walloon to the negotiating table.

In the end, the composition was successful in the aforementioned way and Ad to you all tribute!

This 7 CD box has been chosen for 4 Radio Veronica programs and 1 box Radio London, 1 RNI

and 1 Caroline box.

CD 1, with a Decca label, starts very tastefully with a Veronica jingle and

Rob Out's 'Incredible jingle' then Chicago's 'Beginnings', Eddie Floyd with 'Big Bird',

Four Tops with '7 Rooms of Gloom', Episode Six with 'Morning Dew', Gloria 'Bitter Sweet',

Stevie Wonder with 'A place in the sun' and much more beautiful.

Fortunately, the choice was not made with the well-known work that you already encounter on a hundred other CDs.

The CD ends again with a Rob Out jingle.

companies. The CD is dedicated to the sound of Big L Radio London.

There are tracks on it from The Outer Limits: 'Just one more chance', Jackie Trent

(where do you still find her on a collector?), Bruno with 'Wonderboy',

The Merseybeats with 'Don't turn around', Chrispian St. Peters with this time not the 'Pied Piper'

but the song 'Changes'. The man has sung so many wonderful songs!

Also: Roger Miller with 'England swings', The Montanas with their version of 'Ciao baby',

Pinkerton's Assorted Colors with the beautiful 'Mirror Mirror'.

′′ In thoughts of you ′′ (you don't hear it every day on the radio), Brenda Lee, fortunately not with

'Sweet nothings', but with 'Is it true?'. Beautiful! Furthermore: Petula Clark: very good Ad that you agree

did not put 'Downtown' but 'A sign of the times' on it. Then the Honeycombs,

not with the well-known 'Have I the right' but with the song 'This year next year'.

We also heard Nancy Sinatra with Lee Hazelwood and the beautiful warm 'Summerwine.'

(Ad: may the next collector have her first hit 'Like I do' on it?).
