Johnny Kendall & the Heralds are a beat-blues rock band formed in 1963 in Amsterdam. Best known for the hit St. James Infirmary. Line-up: Johan Donker Kaat (vocals; aka Johnny Kendall); Dennis Jacquet (guitar); Frits van Es (guitar), Gerard Veen (bass); Wim Roosendaal (drums).

Their first recordings were released in 1964. The group appeared on national TV, after which they became one of the main stars of the local rock scene. They soon switched to the English-language repertoire and after the release of St. James Infirmary became popular not only in their homeland, but also abroad (in Spain and Italy). Their first and only album, "On The Move", was released in September 1965. Until 1967, the group released several more singles, but in 1968, due to a number of reasons, it broke up
