Sunnygirls swedish female rock band formed in 1967.The Sunnygirls was formed to the foundations of the ex-Plommons in 1967. At first they were Suzie & the Sunnygirls
The group was formed by Maud Lindqvist, Suzie Watson, Annika Degerman and former Plommons members Helena Thunholm and Carina Fredriksson. They took their name from the Hep Stars' song 'Sunny Girl', written by Benny Andersson.
Helena was soon replaced by guitarist Carina Leijd, who also took over from Suzie as lead vocalist, although all except drummer Annika sang. The addition of go-go dancing saxophonists Ann-Christine Carlsson and Ninnie Andersson brought the line-up to six.
In the late 1960s the Sunnygirls toured in Mexico, and performed to an audience of 30,000! Another Swedish group the Moonlighters was also there, and these guys helped the Sunnygirls on their second single-release "Proud Mary". They had performances in U.S.A. in Las Vegas and the legendary Stardust and Desert Inn hotels, and they continued till the mid 1970s with several different line-ups, but without the original members, when the last of them, Leijd and Fredriksson formed a new group called Mixed Six.
In the original lineup Sunnygirls released three singles in total (1968-70), broke up in 1971
