The Pretty Things were never mainstream and never compromised their musical style.

They were probably the first rock band to write the rock opera "S.F. Sorrow" in 1968.

The band's music fit perfectly into the Flower Power era of the sixties and sounds rather strange today.

"Singapore Silk Torpedo - Live At The BBC & Other Broadcast" is a collection of live TV and radio performances: German radio stations are represented, as are appearances on the BBC.

Back then, it was common practice to perform live, even on TV. Wrong notes and off-key singing weren't really considered criteria for good or bad music

And although The Pretty Things never achieved a truly mainstream breakthrough—at least not on the mainland—"Singapore Silk Torpedo - Live At The BBC & Other Broadcast" captures the spirit of the sixties and the kind of music that was generally played in the underground scene back then.
