"Tin Soldiers" is a Moscow group that was one of the first to perform rock in Russian.
The Tin Soldiers released the first full-length magnetic album in the territory of the Soviet Union, which was replicated at an instantaneous speed throughout the country. This was in 1972 and the album was called Reasoning. Some of the songs from this album, most notably the super-hit "Downspout", have become extremely popular.
It all began in 1967, when a rock group was created by the students of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute Sergey Kharitonov (guitar, vocals), Yuri Lashkarev (bass) and the student of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute Viktor Gusev (drums), who studied at Lashkarev in the same class. Then the guys called themselves a group "Behemoths", and in the English transcription it sounded "Hippopotamus". "Behemoths" performed songs from the repertoire of "Shadows", "Bee Gees" and other English beat ensembles and some of their own songs.
The recording of this album took place in the legendary basement at No. 75 on Leningradsky Prospekt, where the Sokol group once rehearsed.
