The Gentlemen – You Can't Be True / It's A Cry'n Shame (EP 1966) @ 320

The Gentlemen from dallas, texas, these guys were around from 1964-68. members included Tim Justice on drums, Seab Meador and Mike Kelly on guitar, Lonnie Taylor on bass (replaced by Bruce Bland in 1966), and Tommy Turner on keyboards. Jimmie Vaughan later of The Fabulous Thunderbirds played with them for a little while. this was the A-side. Jimmie Randall also played bass with them, and on the recordings of the band.

A. The Gentlemen - You Can't Be True
B. The Gentlemen - It's A Cry'n Shame

When I started listening to the second track of this EP, I thought it was the another group... No... It turned out to be the same The Gentlemen. Just because arranger Gene Garretson added violins and it took them almost 2 weeks to finish "You Can't Be True". meanwhile, the B-side, "It's A Cry'n Shame" (which the band liked better), on vandan records, was done in about an hour. This is the only one EP of the group, although most likely the guys with 1964 to 1968 had much more material in their repertoire, but history has left us only this small, eclectic piece of vinyl from a bygone era...
