PETER GERDA GUILKERS, JULES, MARTY, BUTCH, JOHN
Formed in 1958 in Holland, this band were previously known as the G-Brothers. They went to Australia in the early sixties, then toured all over Europe in 1964-5. In 1966 they hit the US where they were affectionately tagged "The Crazy Dutchmen". They stayed in Nashville just long enough to cut this 45 on a small label before the travel-bug took them on to the West Coast.
Silhouetted Summer Dream / You Haven't Lived - "The Group Therapy" (Parasonic 48) 1966/67
The same record was released in Germany in 1968 on the Spectrum label HS 7005 under the artists name of "The Love Rebelion"
Silhouetted Summer Dream / You Haven't Lived - "The Love Rebelion" (Spectrum Records HS 7005) 1968

I SAW THEM PLAY IN THE VILLAGE OF MEERSSEN (HOLLAND) IN 1964 IN THE SO-CALLED JEUGDHUIS ( YOUTH HOME). THEY WERE FROM MEERSSEN AND THEIR UNCLE, ALSO CALLED GULIKERS, HAD A RADIO AND TV SHOP IN THE STATIONSTRAAT ( STREET TO THE STATION) WHERE I BOUGHT MY FIRST 45 A HARD DAY'S NIGHT.THERE NEPHEW, THE RADIO AND TV SHOP'S SON, PLAYED IN A LOCAL BAND FROM MEERSSEN WITH BOYS I KNEW VERY WELL.

Some more info. I remember that I once had a single which the G-Bros recorded for the local Telstar records label in Limburg owned by singer Johnny Hoes. Alas I don't have it any more. There was also a band called the G-Bros in the Dutch province of Overrijsel in the mid-sixties. A Maastricht band called the Sharons, whose members I knew very well, they often played in Meerssen in dancing "de Kromme Thies", also released their first single on the Telstar label. I still have it. On the flip-side is a cover of All I've gotta do from the Beatles second album .
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Meerssen,
Joe
