Started in September 1979, Record Collector is an English monthly music magazine which focus on discographies and record collectability. In 1987, Record Collector published its first standalone guide: the Rare Record Price Guide (RRPG). Famous for being "serious about music", the magazine and the Guide are a worldwide reference among collectors and dealers. In 2010 The Rare Record Price Guide went online as a database. Today, the magazine is also available on tablet.
In 2011 Record Collector started a label, ran by Ian Shirley offering to readers rare and obscure releases/reissues on limited edition 180g vinyl in careful sleeve. Most of them quickly sold out.
