Polanie was a Polish rhythm and blues band formed in August 1965 in Łódź by Andrzej Nebeski, Włodzimierz Wander, Piotr Puławski, and brothers Wiesław and Zbigniew Bernołak. Although the group was short-lived and recorded only one full-length album and three EPs, its contribution to the development of Polish popular music through the popularization of rhythm and blues was significant.

The band was formed because the musicians (as they emphasized in press interviews) were disillusioned and bored with their work in the bands Czerwono- and Niebiesko-Czarni and wanted to find their own solutions that would correspond to global trends in popular music of the period.

The newly formed group's first performances took place at the Feature Film Studio . The name Polanie was chosen by Swedish actress Bibi Andersson, who was visiting Łódź at the time and was the godmother of the debuting group.

Immediately following a tour in October and radio recordings in November 1965, the band shared the stage with The Animals. These landmark concerts with Eric Burdon marked a turning point for the band, which abandoned big beat in favor of rhythm and blues. The band's songs became more aggressive, and its repertoire expanded to include international hits.In December, Polanie opened the Gitariada festival in Warsaw, and in January 1966, they performed at the National Philharmonic Orchestra alongside the combined orchestras of Polish Radio and Television. In May and June 1966, the band toured Denmark, and in July 1966, they won a competition among bands from 18 countries at the International Folk-Beat Festival in Hamburg. Following this major success, Polanie recorded for West German Radio and Television and by January 1967 had given 178 concerts abroad. The musicians then toured the USSR twice.

After returning to Poland, they recorded their first, and as it turned out, only full-length album between October 16 and 21, 1967. It contains songs reflecting their passion for rhythm and blues. Side one features original Polish compositions, while Side Two features covers of songs by foreign artists including The Animals, Ray Charles, The Kinks, The Capitols, and The Lovin' Spoonful.

After returning from another tour of the Soviet Union (the band performed on a compilation album featuring, among others, Dana Lerska, Regina Pisarek, and Wojciech Gassowski), the group disbanded in March 1968 and officially ceased to exist on April 1.

In the following years, Polanie reunited several times for solo concerts, including in January 1996, when they performed at the Przegląd Sportowy Champions' Ball in Warsaw and took part in the Motława Beat concert, which was associated with the promotion of the book Motława Beat. Tricity: The Big Beat Scene of the 1960s.
