Jonathan and Leigh
Jonathan and Leigh were an obscure American contemporary folk and folk-rock duo formed in 1967. Consisting of songwriter Jonathan Alden and singer Sandy Roepken
(known as Leigh), they are best remembered for their cult-classic 1967 Vanguard Records release, Third and Main.Forged in the early 1960s folk scene of Dayton, Ohio,
the duo relocated to New York City to record their sole album.
Their sound drew comparisons to Vanguard label-mates like Ian & Sylvia and Richard & Mimi Fariña. The record featured session musicians who went on to be highly influential in the late 60s,
including bassist Richard Davis and guitarist Jay Berliner.Because they recorded only a single album before fading into obscurity,
they do not have their own standalone encyclopedia page. However, you can read more about their history on Ace Records,
