ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! It`s very good band! В своё время я вышел на британский квинтет Tangerine Peel через один из его синглов, показавшийся мне довольно симпатичным. А уж потом узнал, что у группы всё же кое-что есть в загашнике, то бишь в дискографии: студийный лонгплей 1970 г. под названием "Soft Delights" (RCA, студия звукозаписи "Marquee Studios") и с десяток грампластинок-миньонов за 1967-1971 гг.
ReplyDeleteTangerine Peel счастливчики могли услышать на сцене во второй половине 60-х гг. Многим они тогда действительно нравились, но потом о них забыли и если и вспоминали, то только в связи с тем, что в их составе играл будущий известнейший композитор и продюсер Mike Chapman. Интересно, что Майк покинул коллектив незадолго до того, как он записал свой единственнй альбом "Soft Delights" (RCA), который по сути был сборником некотрых их вещиц.
В 2015 г. альбом был переиздан на прозрачном оранжевом виниле и CD в Лихтенштейне лейблом "Hifly Sound Anstalt" (и никаких бонусов!). В музыкальном плане это издание некоторым знатокам кажется довольно странным (почему, я так до конца и не понял). По их мнению, смесь энергичной поп-музыки и баллад была явно коммерческой. Многим нашим современникам понравились клавишные баллады, такие как "Goodnight To Тhe Night", "What Am I To Do" и "To Judy". Показались интересны такие прото-глэм-рок вещицы, как открывающая композиция "Cindy Lou", "Long Long Ride" (звучащая в американском духе) и "Jeanie Jeanie Jeanie".
У любителей редких сорокопяток и EP в коллекциях есть ещё как минимум семь записей Tangerine Peel: "Every Christian Lion-Hearted Man Will Show You", "Trapped", "Solid Gold Mountain", "Light Across The River", "Play Me A Sad Song And I'll Dance" и т.д. Сингл "Every Christian Lion-Hearted Man Will Show You" относительно недавно, в 2019 г., был размещён в сборнике "Magic In The Air (1966-1970 The Birth Of Cool Britannia)" (бокс-сет из трёх дисков, лейбл "Rubble").

ReplyDeleteThe lucky ones could hear Tangerine Peel on stage in the second half of the 60s. Many people really liked them then, but then they were forgotten and if they were remembered, it was only due to the fact that the future famous composer and producer Mike Chapman played in their composition. It's interesting that Mike left the band shortly before he recorded his only album, "Soft Delights" (RCA), which was essentially a collection of some of their stuff.
In 2015, the album was re-released on transparent orange vinyl and CD in Liechtenstein by the label "Hifly Sound Anstalt" (and no bonuses!). Musically, this publication seems rather strange to some experts (I still don’t fully understand why). In their opinion, the mixture of energetic pop music and ballads was clearly commercial. Many of our contemporaries liked keyboard ballads such as "Goodnight To The Night", "What Am I To Do" and "To Judy". We found interesting proto-glam rock pieces like the opening track “Cindy Lou”, “Long Long Ride” (sounding American) and “Jeanie Jeanie Jeanie”.
Fans of rare 45s and EPs have at least seven more Tangerine Peel records in their collections: “Every Christian Lion-Hearted Man Will Show You”, “Trapped”, “Solid Gold Mountain”, “Light Across The River”, “Play Me A” Sad Song And I'll Dance", etc. The single "Every Christian Lion-Hearted Man Will Show You" relatively recently, in 2019, was placed in the collection "Magic In The Air (1966-1970 The Birth Of Cool Britannia)" (three-disc box set, Rubble).
