ReplyDeleteОчень полезно было сегодня прочесть информацию в Discogs о том, что на лицевой стороне обложки единственной грампластинки Rust "Come With Me" под названием группы обычно размещалось слово "underground". А это приводило к тому, что коллектив иногда обозначали как "Rust Underground". Вообще-то ошибиться было сложно, так как были правильные надписи на обратной стороне обложки и этикетке грампластинки. Но оказалось, что под воздействие этой маркетинговой уловки попал и я, записав группу в своём ветхом блокнотике, два раза... Сейчас исправил.
ReplyDeleteАвстралийско-германское трио - великолепно. Я выделяю в его составе известного гитариста по прозвищу - "Жуткий" ("Creepy"). Этот чувак, John Thomas, был ещё известен по составу Edgar Broughton Band и австралийской группе The Flies. Использовал также сценическое имя Johnny Drive. Альбом, который парни записали и издали в январе 1969 г. по контракту с германским лейблом "HОR ZU/ Colombia", высоко ценится коллекционерами и был особо хорошо воспринят в эпоху Интернета, наряду с сольными работами Creepy Джона Томаса. В Сети появилась масса положительных ревью и отзывов, которые повторять не имеет смысла. Скажу только, что прекрасное переиздание было предпринято в 2022 г. лейблом "Long Hair".
Сеть же в июле 2020 г. преподнесла нам приятный подарочек - обширное интервью с музыкантом. Там много интересного. Но я обратил внимание лишь на несколько моментов: "Я [то есть Джон Томас] покинул Австралию в 1967 году, но переехал в Великобританию лишь несколько месяцев спустя. Моей первой остановкой после Австралии был Дюссельдорф, Германия, откуда в то время была моя девушка. Там я устроился диджеем в психушке", "Я встретил Конни Планка и записал несколько демо", "Я был в Сан-Франциско, когда Конни Планк позвонил мне из Германии и сообщил, что заключил контракт на "Brother Bad Bone". Он неправильно понял слово "плохой" и подумал, что речь идёт о "летучей мыши", поэтому альбом назвали "Brother Bat Bone" вместо "Brother Bad Bone"! Это меня тогда разозлило!", "Оглядываясь назад, я понимаю, что Берлин - мой город, и город, который я люблю больше всего после моего любимого маленького провинциального городка Мурвиллумба", "Моя блюз-группа The Drivers всё ещё активна. Я пишу и записываю постоянно. У меня есть куча записанных песен, ожидающих подходящего предложения от счастливой компании, которая меня подпишет".
It was very useful to read information on Discogs today that the front cover of Rust's only LP, "Come With Me", usually featured the word "underground" under the band's name. And this led to the fact that the team was sometimes referred to as “Rust Underground”. In fact, it was difficult to make a mistake, since there were correct inscriptions on the back cover and the record label. But it turned out that I also fell under the influence of this marketing ploy, having written down the group in my old notebook twice... Now I have corrected it.
ReplyDeleteThe Australian-German trio are great. I highlight in its composition a famous guitarist nicknamed “Creepy”. This dude, John Thomas, was also known from the Edgar Broughton Band and the Australian group The Flies. Also used the stage name Johnny Drive. I write and record all the time. I have a bunch of recorded songs waiting for the right offer from the lucky company that will sign me."
