VA - True Love Has Gone Forever (More Copenhagen Beat 1963-68)

A companion volume to a previous collection of Danish '60s garage music on King Beat (Copenhagen Beat). This edition, like its predecessor, leans too heavily on cover versions, but holds some interest for those with a (very) deep interest in '60s Continental beat. The Kids' "Can't Stop Now" is respectable mod rock, the Ex-Checkers' "Long Long Time" is charming fake Merseybeat, and Melvis and his Gentlemen's "Skinny Minny" is a fairly terrific revitalization of one of Bill Haley's less memorable hits.

If you're talking obscure cover versions, check out the Pretty Things covers by the Mods and the Keepers, the Blue Beats' version of the Small Faces' "Sorry She's Mine," and the Electro Swingers' attempt at an obscure early John Mayall single, "Crocodile Walk." ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide

  4. I've got the first 2 volumes of that Dan-Beat series on Hit n' Beat CDs (We know who is behind that label) called "Viking Beat" and "Copenhagen Beat". Did you post these already? Even got a spare copy of "Viking B" to swap. If interested contact the Lolly Pope. There's also a tremendous LP-only comp called "Beat The Road, Jack" rounding up the killer tunes of independent Danish 60s label Jack's Beat Records from the same source
