Singer Evelyn Verrecchia was born on December 16, 1945, in Angers, located three hundred kilometers from the French capital (Pey de la Loire region). She has recorded songs in French, Italian, Spanish and English. She performed under numerous stage names: Evie, Lucille (Lenton), Evelyn Weyman. On the vast territory of the Soviet Union, she gained her greatest pop fame as the lead vocalist of the disco project "La Belle Epoque", performing under the name Evelyn Langton, accompanied by two backing models.

The song "Miss Broadway" performed by Evelyn became in 1977 one of the first masterpieces of disco-rock - a hybrid style, soon picked up by many rock aristocrats, allowing, without regard to orthodox musical canons, to combine the dance pulsation of disco with the expression of rock and roll. However, our narration will touch on the history of "La Belle Epoque" only at gunpoint, although I would like to hope that this will not come to this.

As a child, a musical atmosphere reigned in Evelyn's house. But it was not just a family where music was loved, cultivated and instilled in children with a sincere interest in it - in this family of Italian immigrants music was performed. And practically all of them. Grandfather led his own orchestra, my mother was a vocalist in it, she sang in it even when Evelyn was pregnant. Dad had his own ensemble, and two uncles of the future disco-rock star took part in it. Albert, Evelyn's brother, began playing the piano at the age of five, and in 1957, together with his brothers, organized his first ensemble, Les Titans.

When Evelyn was fourteen years old, Albert Verrecchia formed the musical group Les Problèmes. He himself played keyboards in it, and Evelyn adorned him with her expressive singing. It was a funny time: the insane pulsation of the rock and roll era has not yet completely faded away, the figures of Elvis and Little Richard, thickly sprinkled with mothballs, have not yet been contemplated by the public to write off completely to the retro museum of history, and no one has ever heard of the Beatles four of Liverpool, did not hear.

Although the stage was Evelyn's home from an early age, one should not think that she was a kind of tomboy who abandoned everything in the world besides music. She graduated from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Paris, an independent film studio with a degree in film directing, studied classical and contemporary dance. Since 1962, she began to independently compose music and lyrics.

In 1963, Evelyn signed a recording contract with the record label "Barclay" and under the name Evie released her debut EP, recorded in the style of the then fashionable style "ye-ye". The songs became popular on the radio, and behind the first disc, the second, third were born ... The singer's professional authority grew by leaps and bounds, and now she is already performing as an opening act in prefabricated concerts with the participation of visiting foreign celebrities: “The Beatles ”,“ The Rolling Stones ”,“ The Kinks ”,“ The Who ”and“ The Animals ”.

Things were going quite well for themselves, but in 1966 the young performer refused to renew her contract with Barclay, as her family decided to return to their homeland in Italy. There Evi, almost immediately signed a commercial agreement with RCA Italiana and recorded several EPs and singles, which were enthusiastically received by the Italian audience. With an escort group assembled by Albert Verrecchia, she performed in nightclubs in Italy, France and North Africa.

In 1969, Evy moved to London, but since the singer's British odyssey crawls out of the chronological framework of the partisan collection Evy 1963-1967 presented here, we will leave the story about him until better times, and stop at this permissible speech, because the roasted rooster has already crowed three times.
