THE ANGELS - 7 DAYS ON TV - 1963
According to the author Laércio Pacheco Martins, in his book “O Rock and Roll: origin, myths and instrumental rock in Brazil”, The Angels, was an instrumental / vocal group, formed in 1961, in Rio de Janeiro, by the brothers Carlos Becker (singer and base guitar) and Sergio Becker (tenor sax. He also had Carlos Roberto Barreto (solo guitar), Jonas Damasceno (bass) and Romir Pereira Andrade (drums).
He started his activities playing in bars, clubs and shows in the south of Rio. They even played dances at Monte Líbano, Caiçaras and many others. In 1962 they had the opportunity to work at night animating the TV program on channel 9 "Encontro com os Anjos", which was dedicated to young audiences. Due to its brilliance, the group started to accompany the singer Célia Villela.
Nazareno de Brito, having attended presentations by the group, made a two-year contract with Copacabana Discos possible. After a promotion by José Messias from Rádio Guanabara the result of the work was the title: "One of the favorite sets of the new generation".
At Copacabana Discos The Angels launched double compacts and Long Plays. They also accompanied several artists on recordings, for example, Wanderley Cardoso, Reynaldo Rayol and Trio Melodia. The group recorded together with Roberto Carlos, without being highlighted by the media. In 1964 the group changed labels (went to CBS) and changed the name to The Youngsters .
Today's post features the group's second Long Play album, released in 1963, under the Copacabana discos label, with the title “7 Dias na TV”. It was not released on CD. It featured 12 instrumental hits from the TV series of the time, such as “The Untouchables”, “Route 66”, “Peter Gunn”, “Bonanza”, “Maverick”
