Although rockabilly hellcat Wanda Jackson is mostly known for her upbeat shuffles, the 30 ballads here demonstrate her way with a sad song. Her appealingly petulant voice quivers and sobs on weepers like "If I Cried Every Time You Hurt Me," "In The Middle Of A Heartache," and "The Last Letter." This collection is just one of an excellent series of Wanda Jackson retrospectives in the Bear Family catalog.
