CD 4 Uptown Girls and Big City Boys

Currently unavailable at time of submission - I write this safe in the knowledge it will re-appear at an unfriendly price. The Ripples Series is limited by it's scource, The Pye Label. So, whaddya we have here on Vol 4? 30 tracks styled after the big pop sound productions that emmanated from The Brill Building. A few shouts then:

The splendid 'Do You Want Me To Tell Him' by The Osbourne siblings - yes of course I mean Gary & Jan aka Tony Osbourne's tackers. Gaz of course went on to write for Elton John.

The curvacious Dana Gillespie who at 16 was discovered by Donovan and wasn't much older when she sung 'Pay You Back With Interest' - though comprehensive, the sleeve notes don't reveal if the 'you' referred to infers Donovan.

Just 16, Antoinette's voice will make a man bigger than even Tom Jones cry profusely into the nibbles she packed for his late shift. Some of you less enlightened might be shocked by Antoinette's situation - 16 & shacked up with a shift-worker but then you must remember her debut single 'Jenny let him go' was released when she was 13.

Other wonders include The Wolves, Tammy St.John & let's not forget Julie Rogers' searing cover of Jimmy Radcliffe's 'Long After Tonight Is Over' - this track btw is repeating endlessly on my player and though of no interest to anyone else but me implies the glorious Miss Rogers has, with her heart stopping quavers broken my hard man vow to cynicism.

Though primarily a collection of covers, Ripples 4 is irressitible and well worth the afore-mentioned unfriendly price it's sure to garner due to it's inexplicable scarcity.
